Japan Countdown begins!

Tue Aug 18, 2009, 11:47 PM
It's less than a month now until I go to Hiroshima to study abroad for a year. I'm very excited but also feeling unprepared - linguistically. I leave Sept. 13th.

This year has introduced me to some new friends and experiences. A not so good one, would be the slight dip in my GPA XD
However, one of the best experiences was my Spring Service Break trip to Guatemala. I stayed with a really sweet family and did my best to communicate with them with my highschool Spanish level from 2 years ago. They did not have much money, but they had a very loving family and their lives really fascinated me.

This year I also joined an "International Friends" program at my college, and met two wonderful ladies. Qianru and Madoka. Through Madoka I met some other Japanese exchange students, and I just had fun hanging out with them.

So I suppose I would recommend both going on an alternative service break for spring or winter break, as well as joining an international program.:handshake:

If possible, I think I've done even less art this past year, but have done a few sketches this summer. I'm also about to complete my Satsuki portrait that I took a break from for a year ~__~

This year I want to try many new things (and I KNOW I will b/c I don't like Japanese food, and so living in Japan I'm going to eat a LOT of things I normally don't:fish:). I want to see a lot of concerts too >.>
I hope I don't die in Japan v.v

I think I'll be very homesick and miss a lot of things. But I want to see and meet new ppl/places. Hopefully I can photograph them or otherwise find inspiration for art.
Making art this summer has been really refreshing.

aigoo, this was boring, sorry.
damn, I need to study kanji so I can pass that damn language test @_@

okay everyone, be safe and happy! :stab: (or else!)

OMGGGG. Long time no talk!!! I'm a total loser for not adding you--there are still tons of people from my UchihaChan days I've yet to re-friend. xD
Anyways! I'm happy to see you're still around! ♥
